First ever LiveJournal User-Representative Election
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VOTE!!!

Eligibility
Those eligible to vote in this poll are:
-Users with accounts created before March 11, 2008
-Users who are not using Cyrillic language services (there is a poll for Cyrillic users at lj_election_ru)
-Users who have accounts with validated email addresses

Voting
Users should select their first choice, second choice, and third choice candidates from the drop-down list.

Determining the winner
The poll will be closed at 9:00 p.m. PDT Thursday, May 29, 2008
-If a user has more than 50% of the first-choice vote, that candidate will be declared the winner
-If no user has more than 50% of the first-choice vote, we will begin using an Instant Runoff process. The user with the lowest tally for first-choice vote will be eliminated, and the second choice candidate on those ballots will be substituted as first choice. This process will continue (drop lowest candidate, reassign to next vote, tally again) until any user has more than 50% of the vote.
-If all ballots are exhausted and no candidate has more than 50% of the vote, we will return to the first round and award the election to the candidate with the most 1st choice votes.

Member Term
The new Advisory Board member will be announced by the end of the day on Friday, May 30, 2008 and will begin their one-year term of service on June 1, 2008.

THANK YOU!

Wow, the splooge factor is pretty damn high in this whole situation. Death threats? WTF? I guess I'm glad it doesn't really matter, but the wankage has been ugly.

ETA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting is slightly oriented towards multiple candidates, but still quite helpful.

PS Fanfic is what it is. Get over it.

I totally would be if I didn't have to leave for work in one hour :-p That definitely is NOT exciting!

So I'm wondering what actions you staff people will be taking against the people who did the death threats and other things during this 'fun' election. :) It's the end of this whole adventure, maybe now you'll have time!

Congrats to legomymalfoy! While Squeaky was my first choice, LMM was my second choice. Now excuse me while I give birth to some bananas and LOL at everyone who is whining because their candidate got PWNED.

LOL!

hmmm..based on multiple vote rigging and sock accounts, and how you've mismanaged everything..I have no trust in LJ or this person who allegedly won...

Death threats, vote rigging etc...he is not my rep thats for sure

P.S. I'm sorry but baked goods sent by mail is just not a good idea.

Conflict of interest?
Is it true that Legomymalfoy is already a member of LJ Abuse? Isn't there a potential conflict of interest to also be an elected member on the LJ Advisory Board? It seems that Lego should choose one or the other. I don't feel it's fair to do both. There could be situations where also being a member of LJ Abuse could cause a bias where someone not affiliated with LJ Abuse would be impartial. Just my opinion, thanks for listening.

SO glad the election was not won by someone who has spent years trying to make a mockery out of LJ.

I am nominating me
I am a user of live journal and I really enjoy the people here they are very friendly and its something that I think everyone should have on their list is Live Journal. I am a photographer and I am using htis to tell people about a friend of mine that had Gastric Bypass surgery and when I get the chance I update it when I get new pictures to show her progress.

Life for writing
Hello,

My name is Vincent Scholze and I am 34 years old. I am a poet and PhD student in Nematology at the Wageningen University in The Netherlands. I got a master in nematology and philosophy. I write since I was 10 years old and since then no day goes by without writing. At the moment I am working on my 8th book of poetry, and it will be all in English. I published also many poems in Dutch anthologies and books of philosophy. I was an editor for 6 years of a Dutch Literature magazine ("Meander") and also wrote many articles about philosophy, science and poetry. Writing is my passion and I enjoy talking about literature. It would be nice to spend my spare time with Live Journal and give advice from my experience!

Please, Vote for me!

Vincent.

Best of both worlds - Internet Business Savvy, and Avid Social Networker
I am nominating myself to the LJ advisory board because I bring the best of both worlds, Social Networking and Executive Board experience.

I have been involved with the Internet since before it was public and was part of the team that deregulated US telecommunications in 1996.

I am an avid writer, have been a hi-tech marketing/product mgmt exec at numerous companies over the years and I am an entrepreneur.

I think I would bring a uniqueness to the board because I am knowledgeable about the Internet business but am also one it's biggest users, using it for business, personal, social networking and even politics.

Thanks and I look forward to your vote!
