First ever LiveJournal User-Representative Election
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VOTE!!!

Eligibility
Those eligible to vote in this poll are:
-Users with accounts created before March 11, 2008
-Users who are not using Cyrillic language services (there is a poll for Cyrillic users at lj_election_ru)
-Users who have accounts with validated email addresses

Voting
Users should select their first choice, second choice, and third choice candidates from the drop-down list.

Determining the winner
The poll will be closed at 9:00 p.m. PDT Thursday, May 29, 2008
-If a user has more than 50% of the first-choice vote, that candidate will be declared the winner
-If no user has more than 50% of the first-choice vote, we will begin using an Instant Runoff process. The user with the lowest tally for first-choice vote will be eliminated, and the second choice candidate on those ballots will be substituted as first choice. This process will continue (drop lowest candidate, reassign to next vote, tally again) until any user has more than 50% of the vote.
-If all ballots are exhausted and no candidate has more than 50% of the vote, we will return to the first round and award the election to the candidate with the most 1st choice votes.

Member Term
The new Advisory Board member will be announced by the end of the day on Friday, May 30, 2008 and will begin their one-year term of service on June 1, 2008.

THANK YOU!

Re: Relevant links
So, basically, you're making assumptions and misleading statements in order to trash his chances?

That's awesome of you.

Re: Relevant links
It's funny how comments like yours make me want him to win, and I am absolutely indifferent to this entire wankery of an election.

You post cryptic, creepy comments like these, then actually blame others like him and those who post silly (and fully) posters for starting the drama? Unbelievable.

Your indifference is...underwhelming.

Re: Relevant links
Actually, I think this

1. Change all of your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice votes to [info]jameth over here: http://www.livejournal.com/poll/?id=1192389&mode=enter It's something to do with the instant run-off voting. I am IRL and will research later; perhaps someone can give us all a clear idea on what's happening here.

may be a pretty plausible reason for disqualification.

Re: Relevant links
I fail to see how that would disqualify him, since LJ said and did nothing to protect against this. I think people are just butthurt that he's in the lead. Oh well.

Re: Relevant links
Oh yeah. And LJ would never with little warning or explanation go back and change they way they've decided to do something.

Oh wait.

Also, I'm not "butthurt". I just didn't think his platform was as well developed as a lot of other people's (nor did it fit into my beliefs about what needs to change around here). And I don't appreciate the spaming of the page with obnoxious graphics. What about people with dial up? Or those with crappy connections at various international locations who don't get a ton of bandwidth a month? Yes, I realize that those are his supporters not him, but I think if there was some actual understanding the various needs of LJ-ers he might have told them to cool it a bit.

Re: Relevant links
Why, where is there a rule prohibiting that behavior, or advocating that people do that? Someone on his flist misread how the runoff works, and thought that all the second choice votes were added if there was not a clear winner in the first round. As it is, the second choice votes only matter if the candidate is dropped at the end of the first round. As Jameth is currently in the lead, it is almost impossible for hime to be one of the candidates that is dropped, so what people who list him as their first choice list as their second and third choice will never matter.

He's doing it for the lulz.

You may go now.
