I'm legomymalfoy and I'm running for the board.
Hi there.

Who am I?: My name is Jennifer, and I'll tell you a thing or twelve about my time on LiveJournal.

Personal: I've been an active user of LiveJournal since 2002. I've participated in and maintained communities. I've been an active poster and commenter, and have made lasting friendships with folks on my Friends List. LiveJournal is my online 'home', and as one of its users first and foremost, I feel qualified to speak out as a user on issues that are important not only to me, but to all of you.

Support Volunteer: I've been a Support Volunteer for LiveJournal since 2003, and now serve as a Volunteer Category Administrator for the Entries category. I started out small, leaving answers and not getting approved a whole lot. I quickly received training, and this training enabled me to grow in leaps and bounds, and eventually serve as a category admin. As an admin, I help train other users and -- along with my lovely co-admins -- keep our corner of Support running smoothly.

Now, when something is broken on LiveJournal, they naturally tend to flock to us. We, as volunteers, are extremely aware of what is broken, what is being worked on, and how to best get these issues resolved quickly. I understand the frustration, and would be qualified to work with other board members to work on helping users get the technical help they need.

Abuse Prevention Team: Yes... I've also been a member of the Abuse Prevention Team since 2004. This experience has taught me so, so much. Number one being that when someone tells you "Ew, don't click that!" -- and they're on the Abuse Team -- they mean it!

In all seriousness, I feel that this does qualify me to speak about policy. This does qualify me to help other board members understand how (and why) things are done, and how we can come up with changes that balance user freedom with US law.

Fandom: No, no, don't hit the back button! Yes, I'm an active member of fandom. Yes, I read and write stories, and I view fanart. I have been in 'fandom' on LiveJournal as long as I've been a member. I've attended conventions. I've participated in discussions, and festivals, and meta... I've not always enjoyed being attached to my particular fandom, but I wouldn't trade the experience for the world.

How does this qualify me? Well, I'm aware that fandom comprises a large portion of LiveJournal. We're loud, we waffle between wanting to be understood and wanting to hide out in a cave and hope that nobody comes looking. I understand that, I get it. I'd do whatever I could to ensure that other board members understood that as well.

In summary, I'd love the chance to serve as an Advisory Board Member. I feel that I am qualified to do so. If you have any questions for me, of course, you are welcome to ask here: (http://legomymalfoy.livejournal.com/583709.html).

Thank you for your support.

Hi, I'm Mark, the original LJ "All things business" guy who oversaw basially everything that Brad did not in the early days of the site (the creation of the abuse and support departments, created the ideas for LJ's communities and other features, handled PR, etc.)

About a month ago, I created ljunited, with a platform based on the original promises made to LJ's members, as being the ideal goal for what we would like for the site. Our primary goal is to also to provide information to all of the active parties who help LJ to make decisions, in the hope of influencing decisions made by LJ/SUP.

As it appears that you are likely to win a board nomination, I would like to invite you to post to LJ United for a Q&A session, about your thoughts on LJ, and on LJUnited's policies and issue concerns, and where you agree and differ from them. You may want to browse the posts at LJ United first, to have a better idea of some of our concerns regarding LJ's policies and the future of the site.

I wrote a short piece about the elections here and I was wondering if you would be able to respond to it.

If you have any questions for me, of course, you are welcome to ask here: (http://legomymalfoy.livejournal.com/583709.html).

But you didn't mention that any questions that don't suck up to you will be summarily deleted.

You've been elected and it's been almost four full weeks. Do you intend to make any statement at all to the livejournal population at large that you represent or shall we just expect another 11 months of silence?
